Chairman and Director


Caroline Wood

Starting in May 2011, Caroline was appointed to this newly created role as Director of the Coastal West Sussex Partnership Board.  Working on behalf of the Partnership Board and the partners, there is a clear focus on skills and job creation and Caroline is responsible for taking forward a range of projects that will help to improve the economy of the coastal area. 

Iain Shepherd

Iain Shepherd was appointed as chair of the Coastal West Sussex Partnership in April 2011.

Iain is activley involved with a number of organisations with a particular preference for the marine sector which is where Iain has spent most of his career.  Iain is actively involved in a number of maritime industry forums, he is the Chair of Marine South East, an executive member of Chichester Chamber of Commece, a Director of the Coast to Capital Local Enterprise Partnership to name but a few.

Marine South East

Iain Shepherd, Chair of Marine South East

Marine South East is a business-led consortium developed to address the needs of the marine sector in the South East region. It was created to tackle the critical issues affecting marine businesses in the region and support the economic development of the marine sector in the South East.

Northbrook College

Northbrook College is a further education and higher education college and principal provider of work-related Further Education in Worthing and nearby Shoreham-by-Sea in West Sussex.

Ricardo

Andrew Swayne, Ricardo's.

Ricardo is a leading global multi-industry engineering provider of technology, product innovation and strategic consulting. Ricardo develops engines, transmissions, vehicle systems, intelligent transportation systems (ITS) and hybrid & electric systems. The industries served are in transportation, defense and clean energy.

University of Chichester

The University of Chichester is a university based in West Sussex. Campuses are based in the city of Chichester and the nearby coastal resort of Bognor Regis. The university is one of the newest in the United Kingdom, receiving privy council permission to adapt its status in October 2005.

West Sussex County Council

West Sussex County Council (WSCC) is the authority that governs the non-metropolitan county of West Sussex. The county also contains 7 district and borough councils, and 159 town, parish and neighbourhood councils. The county council has 71 elected councillors. The Chief Executive and his team of Executive Directors are responsible for the day-to-day running of the council.

The county elects 8 MPs, and is part of the South East England constituency which returns ten members to the European Parliament.

West Sussex County Council is currently controlled by the Conservative Party.

Tony Toynton

Director Communities and Infrastructure (includes Highways, Transport, Strategic planning and Waste.

West Sussex Growers Association

John Hall represents the West Sussex Growers’ Association which is a specialist horticultural branch of the National Farmers’ Union. The membership is made up of those around the West Sussex area who have a strong interest in horticulture which is an important industry in the coastal area.

Worthing Borough Council

Cllr Bryan Turner, Deputy Leader of Worthing Borough Council and also the Cabinet Member for Regeneration is the Board Member and Vice Chair of the CWS Partnership Board.  Cllr Turner sees business as the key to economic development, and is keen to encourage more business start ups and see established businesses in the Coastal West Sussex Area grow.

Peter Latham, Chief Executive of Worthing Borough Council and Adur District Council is also a Board member

 

Adur District Council

Adur is a local government district of West Sussex, England. It is named after the River Adur and is historically part of the English county of Sussex. The council is based in Shoreham-by-Sea and the district has a population of 59,627 according to the 2001 census.

Currently represented by Jim Funnell, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Peter Latham, Chief Executive of Adur District Council and Worthing Borough Council

Arun District Council

Arun is a local government district in West Sussex, England. It contains the towns of Arundel, Bognor Regis and Littlehampton, and takes its name from the River Arun, which runs through the centre of the district.

Babcock Enterprise

Babcock Research staff are skilled, specialist researchers, expert in the fields of education, training, employment and skills.ong with the Shoreham Port, links the district further afield.

Chambers of Commerce and Industry

The coastal Chambers of Commerce actively represent the interests and needs of local business on many local committees, councils and business working groups across the region. The Chambers are committed to helping support, develop and promote local business across the coastal area.

Chichester College

Chichester College provides a broad range of education services to 15,000 full and part time students.

Federation of Small Businesses

The FSB is non-profit making and non-party political

The Federation of Small Businesses is the UK's largest campaigning pressure group promoting and protecting the interests of the self-employed and owners of small firms. Formed in 1974, it now has 200,000 members across 33 regions and 194 branches.

Goodwood

The Goodwood Estate is a major sport and leisure venue featuring Goodwood Racecourse, home of the Glorious Goodwood flatracing festival, which is one of the highlights of the English social season; Chichester/Goodwood Airport and Goodwood Circuit; and the Goodwood Park Hotel, Golf and Country Club. The immediate grounds of the house also play host to the annual Goodwood Festival of Speed, which has rapidly become a major event in the diary of all fans, participants and companies associated with motor racing. The Rolls-Royce Motor Cars manufacturing plant and global headquarters is located on the south end of Goodwood Estate.

Harbour Park & Sussex Tourism Partnership

Gary Smart, Harbour Park, Littlehampton represents the interests of tourism on the Board
